INTERESTING SOARING STUFF

Have you ever wondered what it is the best time of year to fly cross-country, or wave
flights, in North America? My book, "Diamond Days in the United States of America and
Canada" answers that question on a region by region analysis. Lots of data and many
graphs show clear trends. I look forward to adding your big flight to my database!
(The book has been slightly revised for lower cost)

Aviation Safety is something every pilot needs to practice, think about and study. Here is
my rec.aviation.soaring safety FAQ; a collection of various safety articles which I believe
any pilot will find useful. I believe these articles are useful because they explain the
technical/scientific underpinnings of various safety issues.

Please note that to view the graphic at the intended size the paragraph is 52 mm wide and 35 mm
high (top of the word "Tape" to the bottom of the last sentence "seconds to react."). Illustration
taken from [Canadian] Aviation Safety Letter (4/85).

Are you a glider pilot who is constantly on the prowl for new sources of information,
interested in aviation history, has a technical interest in soaring, or perhaps has an
inventive mind? The rec.aviation.soaring bibliography that I have put together covers a
wide range of soaring books and journals in many languages. I am sure you will find
something of interest. Maybe you can contribute a few titles or translations!

For those glider pilots who fly in the United States and require badge or record forms, here
is a collection of gifs which capture all the SSA forms. I will attempt to keep them up-to-date, but you must ensure that you are using the correct and current form(s).
